Imaginary Conversation with an Egoist

You've chosen your path
Now I'm choosing mine
Am I less a woman than you are
because I choose to be different?
You don't want to change,
so why should I?
Why should I sacrifice myself?
It's no use
Like talking to solid walls
Whatever I say is wrong for you.

You, you, you--
only you matter
You talk in a cryptic way
and expect people to agree

You talk, you walk, you stalk
for imperfections
What did you say?
I'm talking gibberish, I know
I can't and won't change
Say, would you do something
to your swinging gait?
Of course not

Just because I choose
not to be trapped by your spidery
universe
You condemn me!
you expect me to change
all of me
my looks, my books, my hooks.
Say, would you do something,
like changing the way you act?
Surely not

I know, yes, you're impossible
I know you strive for attention
How pathetic

In the name of loneliness
you do crazy things,
like telling people what to do
How absurd.

No use talking to me
there's no point
I can't talk to you, either
Goodbye, may our paths
never cross again.
